Behind the Prints

I spend my days carving and printing strange creatures. They’re made to bring joy, raise eyebrows, and make your walls feel a bit less well-behaved.

Meet Strangford

Jo Pearson, aka Strangford, is a printmaker originally from South London, now living and making a mess on the scenic Ards Peninsula in Northern Ireland. Her work puts a quirky, colourful twist on relief and Riso printing, featuring animals that look like they’ve wandered in from a dream.

She left her job as a secondary science teacher in 2023 to dive full-time into the world of print, ink and splinters. With a background in ecology, Jo brings a playful take on nature into her prints - blending humour, bold colour and playful shapes.

Her process is hands-on and happily scrappy: designs are carved into plywood from the local DIY shop, then printed using a heavily modified laminator that really earns its keep. Every piece is a mix of craft, curiosity and the slow satisfaction of spending a lot of time encouraging something strange come to life.
